Hi Guys and gals.

I have a problem with my sharan 1997 2ltr cl (same as galaxy) I hope you can help as vw are totally rubbish no forums and only one club.

My wife left the lights on when she put it in the garage hence the next day I had a flat battery easy yeh just take off the battery and charge it, did that, put the battery back on and the passenger front window opened on it's own (strange).

So I tried to close it but it won't close with either button.

I don't know if the galaxy is the same but if you hold the drivers lock to the locked position it should close all the windows if they are left open, but that dosen't work either. I have checked all the fuses and they are ok so i'm stumped.

If any body knows of a master reset switch or fuse that is elsewhere (it's only the passenger front that dosn't work drivers is ok) for this window Please help.

Or a wiring diagram would be nice.

Many thank's in advance

do a search on the topic of electrical failures in doors and rear hatches and you will find that the most common cause is the cables in the looms breaking due to all the opening and shutting of the doors etc either that or the plugs falling out of the motor, but most unlikely on a window motor due to them being a bugger to unplug yet alone fall off :D

Thing is it was fine until I connected the battery back up then it opened on it's own and now it just won't work at all. It seems like a fuse or something but I would have thought that it would be ther same fuse for both front windows.

Don't know if there is a fuse somewhere else.

Have you got a manual? I remember reading something about having to reset the electric window control system when you change batteries - if yours went completely flat, then you may need to reset the system. If it's not working from the switch in the passenger dorr though, it does suggest that a fuse or wire has gone. As the door was closed when it happened, more likely to be a fuse.

Thank's people I now have the problem fixed. :D

Apparently when you reconnect the battery the front passenger window opens as a security measure incase you have locked your keys in the car then you have to reset the computer and alls ok. Why the garage couldn't tell me that I don't know probably to get more money out of me I expect.

If any one knows how to reset the computer or enter the codes (just in case it happens again) I would be very grateful as it cost me

I am having problems with my passenger window on my galaxy. When you press the button you hear it trying to work but nothing as though it is jammed so  bought a window mech and that is doing the same, I have checked all the runners nothing in them could it be the relay and if so where is it please.

Hello, I have the same problem, how do you reset the computer to fix it please? Many thanks
